What is MK 677 or Ibutamoren?
MK 677 (Ibutamoren) is a SARM that targets the growth hormone and it was developed by Reverse Pharmacology. MK-677 targets the pituitary gland and causes it to release growth hormone. MK-677 is also known as Ibutamorene and was developed to combat muscle waste, obesity and osteoporosis.
How does MK 677 (Ibutamorene) work?
MK-677 (Ibutamorene) has been shown to increase the release of growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH), increase the signal of GHRH in the anterior pituitary gland, decrease the release of somatostatin and inhibit the receptor signaling of somatostatin.
The benefits of MK-677 (Ibutamorene)
New studies have shown that MK-677 increases IGF-1 and growth hormone. These studies show that MK-677 can be used for possible treatments involving muscle waste.
Another study showed that MK-677 increases the density of the bone mineral, which means that it can be used to help recover from an injury and can also be a possible treatment for osteoporosis.
MK 677 is also believed to improve skin tone, improve sleep quality, increase energy, increase strength, cause a boost to the immune system and also increase one’s overall well-being.
Side effects of MK 677 (Ibutamorene)
Studies have shown that some of the possible side effects of MK-677 are lethargy, increased appetite and numbness in the hands. These all correlate with the side effects of elevated growth hormone.
Studies have also shown that although IGF-1 and growth hormone were increased, there was no increase in cortisol. MK-677 may cause an increase in prolactin in the early stages, which may affect individuals prone to prolactin side effects.
